So, I’m a little late but thought my wedding would be a good first blog! One June 26th I married the love of my life, my best friend, John Jonker! It was a big day for me- I got married, inherited 5 new siblings, 4 sibling-in-laws, AND 11 nieces and nephews! I couldn’t have asked for a better blessing! We had three bridesmaids, a maid of honor, matron of honor, a best man and four groomsmen. In addition to the typical bridal party, there were two ring bearers and six flower girls! The whole day was an absolute whirlwind but the pictures are beautiful! We had one of John’s family friends do our photography and she was incredible! My dad described her as “omni-present”…. She really didn’t miss a moment! I was so grateful to have so many friends and family there to support us, and many of them from out of town. My college roommate, Liz came in the week before the wedding and I was so thankful to have her keep me in line- I was scattered at times, needless to say. My beautiful sister, Stephanie and John’s sisters all helped out immensely too with programs and other projects! I have so many amazing people in my life and I don’t think I tell them that enough!
There were so many highlights to the day, but one that really stood out for me was my father-daughter dance. The song we danced to was something I had picked out before I had found John or was even in the stage of life to be married! We danced to Eric Claptons’s “You Look Wonderful Tonight” and that song has always had a special place in my heart! When I was young until about age 6, I was pretty active and my dad would occasionally want some cuddle time with me. When he got in those moods he would ask me to dance and he would just hold me, with my head on his shoulder and he would always play “You Look Wonderful Tonight”. That was one of the songs that I always associated with my dad so the father daughter dance was something I had decided on long before I was proposed to! Here’s a summary of pictures from our big day!
