Snowpocalypse!!!!

In light of the recent storm we just had, I thought I would re-visit the first real "snowpocalypse" John and I experienced together this time last year.

We were so fortunate to not only be able to go to the National Prayer Breakfast in D.C last year but also to be able to get some extended one on one time with Jared, Belen and James! We were planning on staying at their house for one night to catch a plane the following day, but apparently the Lord had other plans for us! Not only did our flight get cancelled once, it was cancelled three different times! Normally someone would be irritated given those circumstances, but we had so much fun! We don't often get to have time with just Jared and Belen so I felt like I got to know them (and James!) so much better! At the time they were living in an apartment, so John was on the couch and I was on an air mattress in the middle of the living room floor. Every morning we would wake up to James poking us, or just looking at us, trying to figure out why we were cramping his space!

Like I mentioned, we don't get to have one on one time with Jared and Belen very often, but the same goes for James. We normally get to see him when all of the other nieces and nephews are in town for some summer fun at Nanny and Poppy's. It was so awesome to be able to interact with just James! At the time he had this "ninja roll" to get around if he wanted something that was barely out of arms reach- John and I couldn't stop laughing at that one! We were also there long enough to see him finally really learn how to walk- and not just three steps before toppling over. We had so much fun with him! He is such a sweet sweet boy who is full of love and lots of laughs! We are so thankful for James!

After James was asleep though, Jared and Belen introduced us to a new games the first night, Settlers. It was great! Jared would try to trick everyone into thinking someone else was winning and then he would "come from behind" and win. They probably thought it would only be one night of entertaining, but as I mentioned before, three flight cancellations and several days later, we had played lots of Settlers! We were so thankful they took us in and housed us for a few extra days, but the trip has been one of my favorites since John and I have been together!

Here's a few pictures of the experience- I'll omit the one of Jard and Belen doing a pregnant work out video with jars of Prego as weights! :) I am so thankful to have an amazing sister who married and awesome Jonker man!

We thought we'd check out the storm first hand

The snowmen stood strong!
